LAMBAKLAD FISHING

This extra-ordinary experience is called “Lambaklad Fishing” – a Filipino term that is coming from a word “lambat” (net) and “baklad” (corral), or “lambat-baklad” or “lambaklad,” [ a large fish trap ]. Our fresh catch was then prepared for a traditional Antiqueño breakfast by the sea.



An extra-ordinary experience as an accidental Fisher. Lambaklad fishing is just part of the Tibiao Adventures conceptualized and operated by Mr. Flord Nicson Calawag to promote Tibiao’s tourism. Digging deeper into the culture that is uniquely Antique is the more contemporary unique way of fishing called the Lambaklad fishing, where fishermen catch their fishes through dance-like movements. Almost all participants tried to catch up as they tried to be a Lambaklad fishers for a moment.

Pottery and brick-making in Bandoja has become such an important industry in the province of Antique from first-class bricks, of a quality suitable to be sold in any markets within the area. In addition, locals have mastered the brickmaking trade—by making the traditional  bricks by hand.

White Water River Kayaking

The Tibiao River boasts of crystal clear waters suitable for white water rafting/kayaking at various grades of difficulty. Courses are available for those interested to experience this challenging recreational outdoor activity.  For Grade 1, basic kayaking course introduces first timers to paddling a kayak in calm waters. Grade 2 course are fit for those kayaker who wants to experience a higher level of skill paddling through the rapids and big stones. Grade 3-4 course are for those professionals who want to enjoy an adrenaline rush adventure in the strong currents surpassing the big boulders and difficult maneuvers.

The Tibiao River is one of the best white water rivers in the country perfect for kayaking. In fact, it hosted the first “International Kayaking Cup,” which was initiated by Tibal Adventures, Inc. in 1997.

TIBIAO CENTRAL SCHOOL

The residents of Tibiao, Antique deserve great credit for preserving this historic “Gabaldon” schoolhouse.  The school and the meticulously maintained grounds reflect pride in the community and also the importance the community gives to educating its young people.  Gabaldon schools were built throughout the Philippines during the commonwealth era.  Funding was provided as a result of a bill introduced by Assemblyman Isauro Gabaldon of Nueva Ecija, and became known as Gabaldon Act.  Many Gabaldon schools have been neglected and have fallen into disrepair.

The TEA Park is noted for its two 1-km. long ziplines, said to be the longest in the whole of Panay Island.  Aside from wall climbing and ziplining, the park also offered river kayaking but their kayaks were all damaged on the boulder-strewn Tibiao River and one could be seen hanging by the booth.

The nearly 45 second adrenalin rush traversed great views of the valley, lush forests and the beautiful Tibiao River flanked by some nice rice terraces.  Once on the other side, you have to go up steps carved on a hill to get the next jump-off point, another steel tower set on a raised platform, for the zipline ride back to the initial staging point.

SECO ISLAND

 


This is probably known as Seco means (siko-elbow) because it looks like an elbow. This photo was taken by Dr. Ballogdajan using his drone. Refreshing Island of Tibiao with a white sand and clear water that could relax your mind and soul. Actually it is to far to go there and you must rent a sailboat in order to enjoy the paradise island.

BUGTONG-BATO FALLS







Bugtong Bato has 7 falls, a cool breeze and splash of waterdrops from the falls was extremely refreshing. Foreign people says it is a beautiful place and unique. You can spend an hour to visit this place. From Brgy. Importante, Tibiao, Antique, you will ride first the "Habal-Habal/skylab" means a motorcycle. Actually Bugtong-bato was located at Brgy. Tuno. You will be accompanied by the tourist guide for the amount of Php.200.00 and if you like youcan also give a tip for them. They also offers catering service for the tourist. They prepares a delicious and a native food to produce.
